4/25/08 - We're back and recovered from the Sea Otter Classic.  It seems that there is always some sort of weather issue each year.  Last year, it was high winds and heavy rain; this year they left out the rain but kept the wind.  So it was a wonderful dust storm on Saturday that sent some vendors' tents flying away and canceled some of the more acrobatic demonstrations.

We (my old friend Joel Bradfield) and I still had a wonderful time serving samples of our coffee and chatting with all sorts of people.  The Sea Otter attracts more than 50,000 people to the Laguna Seca Raceway each year, and there was no shortage of people looking for some free coffee.  We also sold a lot of whole bean coffee including the Trips for Kids coffee and our Anniversary Roast.

A highlight for me was meeting the Team Lost Coast Brewery, which we sponsor.  An absolutely great group of people - and damn fine racers to boot!  Check out their blog.

Rich Kelly of Interbike Times came by and filmed a demo of our newest product, the Aerobie AeroPress, an amazing device that makes a shot of espresso in less than 30 seconds.  No more hotel coffee for me, that's for sure!  I'll post a link when I get it.  We actually sold through all that we brought, including to such luminaries as Lennard Zinn from VeloNews and Gary Fisher,  founder of the eponymous bicycle company.  Gary even rode by the next morning to say how much he enjoyed it.

Now it's back to the roaster...
